In the world of consumer-oriented healthcare accounts, dental care has caused a lot of confusion as to what is covered and what is deemed necessary for “general health” purposes and therefore not eligible for reimbursement.
For example, general dental care products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss are considered “general health” products and are not eligible for reimbursement, even if they help prevent oral diseases and other dental problems.
In addition, dental treatments such as tooth whitening and other cosmetic procedures are not eligible because they do not assist in treating, preventing or diagnosing legitimate medical conditions.
So dental floss is not eligible for reimbursement.
